SHOP! ANZ 2024 AWARDS OPEN FOR ENTRIES

Entries are now open for Shop! ANZ’s 24th annual Retail Marketing Awards, with the best in Australian retail marketing campaigns to be recognised across 26 categories, covering physical displays and shopper experience.

The prestigious Shop! Awards recognise and reward best practice, innovation, and excellence in retail and shopper marketing. Open to both Shop! ANZ members and non-members, entrants vie for distinguished Gold, Silver and Bronze prizes, in addition to the Award’s highest honour, the Tom Harris Retail Marketing Award (named after Shop! ANZ founder, Tom Harris).

The 2024 Awards program features three new categories reflecting the growth and evolution of the retail marketing industry across Australia and New Zealand. The new categories include Expo Displays, Retailer Exclusive – Display, and a newly separated Environmental Stewardship category (previously judged across all entries).

Carla Bridge, General Manager of Shop! ANZ, said the new categories have been introduced in line with changes to the disciplines being used in retail marketing.

“Each year we evaluate the Awards program and make tweaks based on a host of factors including number of entrants and changes in the industry generally. As a result of this year’s review we’ve broken out the Environmental Stewardship category due to the increased focus industry-wide on sustainably designed and manufactured displays,” Ms Bridge said.

Submissions are open from October 9, 2024 to January 16, 2025. Entries must have been in market in the period between January 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024. Australian and New Zealand designers and producers of retail marketing materials, activations and campagins, brand owners, agencies, suppliers, and retailers are eligible to enter the Awards.

New Categories for 2024:

Expo Displays

Expo Displays is designed for Exhibition Displays and Stands and will recognise displays built for and used in an Expo environment, whether that be trade or consumer shows. Displays may include interesting or innovative use of floor space, use of available space in the exhibition environment (including, but not limited to suspended elements) and integration of technology and sensory components that work together to create a greater connection with show attendees and the deliver on the clients expectation.

Retailer Exclusive Displays

Due to the popularity of the new category, Retailer Exclusive Campaign last year, in 2024, it has been split into two categories, with the addition of Retailer Exclusive Display, for any physical activations of single disciplines (eg, a single unit or suite of POS displays), developed exclusively for a single retailer.

Environmental Stewardship

In 2024 Environmental Stewardship will become a standalone category, with separate criteria, eligibility, and questions.Environmental Stewardship prizes will be awarded to the in-store activation that shows the most consideration for environmental impact in design, production, shipping, use, and end of life.

Winners will be announced at retail marketing’s night of nights, the Shop! Awards Gala Dinner, on Thursday 27 March, 2025. Tickets can be purchased at www.shopassociation.org.au/events/2024-awards-gala-dinner.
